The European Network for Public Ethics adopts a document on good practices in public ethics

On 27 May 2025, Network members met via videoconference to discuss recent developments in European legislation. The High Authority provided an update on the negotiations relating to the Anti-Corruption Directive, presented by the European Commission on 3 May 2023. The Federal Anti-Corruption Office of the Austrian Ministry of the Interior then presented the awareness-raising measures implemented in Austria to promote a culture of integrity within public administrations.

Members then discussed the document on good practices regarding anti-corruption measures, prepared by the Italian Presidency. The document lists the rules in force in the Network’s member states regarding revolving-doors movements between the public and private sectors, declarations of assets and interests, and the prevention of conflicts of interest. This document was sent to the European Union institutions to contribute to the negotiations on the anti-corruption directive.

Aimed at promoting public integrity and transparency, the European Network for Public Ethics was created in June 2022 at the initiative of the High Authority, which currently serves as its secretariat. The Italian National Anti-Corruption Authority has chaired the Network since October 2024. The Network brings together 15 authorities from European Union member countries who regularly exchange views on public ethics issues, as well as three observer members.
